Last year, we redesigned and upgraded Biomatrica’s website, but due to operational reasons and other circumstances, the e-commerce system remained on the old platform and was scheduled for a later time. Well, we’re proud to announce that the eCommerce upgrade has been completed! We recently launched a brand new online store/shopping cart. It features many improvements:
- Increased security measures
- Full integration into existing website
- Modern look, feel and operation
- Mobile & tablet friendly
- Improved options and product selection
- Improved customer administration area
- And much, much more
Old vs. New
Biomatrica was previously using an eCommerce platform called Miva. Although Miva is a great platform, it was a bit hard to manage and frankly a little inconvenient! Once the new website was finished, we wanted to make the transition of purchasing products and keeping track of orders as simple as possible. In order to do that, we had to switch over the products and EVERYTHING from the Miva platform over to WooCommerce accessed through WordPress. Since we use WordPress for all of our website designs/redesigns, it only makes sense to use WooCommerce! The switch makes access to orders, editing, etc. easier for anyone who manages the product orders.
Back-End Work
Using the Products plugin from the Avada theme in WordPress, multiple items had to be tended to including:
- SKU numbers
- Shipping weight
- Prices
- Variables and Attributes
- Descriptions
- And more!
